A driver for a rental store was driving down the roadway, observing his surroundings and paying attention to the vehicles on the road in front of him. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, the driver of a compact car in front of him slammed on the brakes.
Because he saw what was happening, he was able to swerve around the car and not hit it, but the lane he swerved into was not empty. A car was there and they collided head on. Neither vehicle was traveling too quickly due to the congested roads during the morning rush hour, so the damage to both vehicles wasn’t as bad as it could have been and no one was injured.
Even when you are paying attention, accidents can happen. Monitor your speed and don’t travel too closely to the vehicles in front of you so you have room to stop if necessary.
